Uganda has endured the scourge of civil war and the deadly AIDS epidemic.

Approximately 2 million children in Uganda have been orphaned.The mission of Watoto is to raise the next generation of Ugandan leaders by placing parentless children (2-12 year olds) in families where the necessary love, care, spiritual discipleship and physical needs are provided.

Watoto currently operates 3 children's villages and cares for over 1500 children. The villages include individual homes, each accommodating 8 children and a house mother, a complete school system for the children and the surrounding communities, plus the entire infrastructure to support a community. The result is a self-sustaining village that serves the children while providing employment for women and teachers, and steady jobs for laborers.
