The Butterflies Who Were Afraid

August 09, 2007

ahah International author Sean Redmond completed a book this week that aims at empowering young children to effectively deal with fear and anxiety.

"There are a significant number of people affected by fear, anxiety and panic attacks and unless they are aware of strategies to cope, AND encouraged they may never win the battle, and this book aims to help reverse this situation" Sean said.   "In this book, a young girl describes how the butterflies in her tummy let her know when they are afraid or worried and how she looks after them through effective breathing, visual imagery and telling her parents about the situation" he said.

Sean sees that there is a very real need within Australia and internationally for people to know they can acknowledge their struggles, look at different strategies and then be supported as they take the steps necessary to overcome the limitations that fear, anxiety and panic attacks can bring.

"I have now started writing a book specifically for teenagers because they experience so many situations at the moment that, without a healthy understanding and proven strategies, can cause tremendous fear and anxiety - something we don't want our next generation of leaders to have to accept" he said.
